I ordered this book as soon as I finished the first one in the series Cassandra's Challenge (The Imperial Series Book 1) and it was just as good. It was great to see how everyone had fared over the last 9 years. This story had a great story line with a couple of good twists to it that kept the story moving. I could easily see how the misunderstandings at the beginning of the book could happen and Victoria definitely makes him work for it before they end up together. I love the fact that her character is strong, smart and confident in some ways but insecure in others. We get to see characters from the first book and find out what has happened to them as well. Even if you haven't read the first book there is enough of the overview when Victoria and Lucas are talking to other characters in the book about the past. I would highly recommend reading the first book before this one, but that certainly isn't necessary to enjoy this one! Very well written and fleshed out characters with believable conversations and interactions pull you right in and don't want to let go. I'm starting to learn to only start one of her books when I have a couple of days off because once I start I want to finish it in one go! I am buying up all of her stuff to read and enjoy! I actually bought the paperback in April and the ebook in May so that I can read it as many times as I want without wearing out the physical copy. I have read this book multiple times and have enjoyed it just as much the 3rd time as the first!Tags : Victoria's Challenge (Challenge Series Book 2) - Kindle edition by M.K. Eidem. Victoria Challenge Challenge Series Book 2 edition by MK Eidem Romance eBooks Reviews
Just finished book 2 and loved it. This follows book 1 nine years after Earth is destroyed and Victoria has matured into a beautiful, smart, sassy woman like her Aunt Cassie. She has waited 9 cycles (years) and is looking forward to reconnecting with Lucas, her life mate, but of course not everything goes as planned. The battle with the Regulians continues as Ms Eidem brings together her characters I've grown to love from book 1 as well as introducing us to a few new characters along the way.
Love this Sci-fi world
Now it's Victoria and Lucas' turn.
9 years after the Challenge to the House of Knowledge Victoria is now 18 and graduating top of her class. Lucas has also gone on to become Major on the Retribution.
I enjoyed getting to see how Victoria adapted to life in a new world. She had more problems then Cassie did in a way because she isn't considered a royal like her aunt. But to make her own way she couldn't rely on her aunt and uncle to take care of her problems.
Lucas placed distance between him and Victoria to give her a chance to grow up and hopefully see him more as a man than a hero. But when honesty gets brutal and twisted he finds he'll have to fight to make Victoria see that he loves her and can't live without her.
But there are still those hiding that would like to see the alien queen of the throne and in the hands of a true Carinian.
Again, Eidem has written an entertaining story that I enjoyed reading, except when I had to stop and try to figure out what she was trying to say. I enjoyed this book and can recommend it, if you are willing to fill in the blanks. It has much better editing than "Cassandra's Challenge", which was almost unreadable because of horrible editing. With proper editing, I'd have given this book 4 stars.
There are still a ton of basic editing mistakes in this book, which will turn away many potential readers. There are left-over words from previous versions of sentences. Articles, verbs and even nouns are missing from sentences, but which are included in the next sentence, so I must conclude that Eidem is not underlining a basic difference between proper English and proper Carinian usage. These mistakes are on almost every page.
Whoever is editing the books should be fired. Fire them now, because the editor is killing the flow and mood of the stories as well as killing the patience of the readers. I hate to review the editing, rather than the book; however, poor editing is overwhelming the good story. If the next book has the same errors, I won't be buying another one by this author.
Second book in the Imperial Series by M K Eidem doesn’t disappoint. A sensually romantic tale about a very strong Alpha couple who meet again when the woman comes of age. But life has necessarily kept them separated so she could grow up, and they need to discover who they are…..
Victoria Chamberlain has grown up, she’s graduated from Montreux at the top of her class, one of the most prestigious universities on Carina. Lucas Zafar sees her for the first time in several cycles dancing with his father high Admiral William Zafar. She is a stunningly beautiful confident young woman. Victoria knew when she was nine, Lucas was her life mate. Now at 18 she can finally claim Lucas as hers, right?
Victoria and Lucas find that they really don’t know each other all that well now. The author has crafted a believable life story strung with many pitfalls, surprises and twists. It’s a dance of renewal as well as discovery. Set in a Sci-Fi world full of treachery, and deceit, Victoria’s Challenge continues a storyline begin in the first book.
Victoria and Lucas are thrown together on the Battle Star Retribution where they start down a rocky path. It soon becomes a roller coaster of misunderstanding and hurt. When Lucas burns his hands during a Regulian attack its Dr. Victoria Chamberlain that treats his wounds and helps him get his hands back. Lucas and Victoria see each other through new eyes. Love that was there all along begins to bloom.
Again M K Eidem has crafted a complex story destined to keep you glued to the page. It is hard to put down. Each time I read it I see something I had missed previously. I hope you find this story as satisfying as I did. I just wish she would write faster!
