Bronx Masquerade Nikki Grimes Books

I had to read this book for a college class, and normally required books for school are pretty lame to me, but this was a really good read. Each chapter is told from a different student’s point of view, and you get to see them for who they really are, and how poetry was able to bring the students closer together despite all of their cultural and behavioral differences.

Bronx Masquerade Nikki Grimes Books Reviews

i did not really like the book! but it is okay i guess! it talks about a lot of social critics
This has been flying through my classroom
I think that this would be a great book for kids to read because of all of the good thoughts that it will leave you with after you are finished reading it. Although, I think personally that this book was some-what confusing because some characters had more than 5 chapters about them when others only had about 1 or 2; the book was also very hard to navigate through without chapter numbers making a bad choice for a school book, which is of course why I had to read it in the first place.

Great book
I ordered this book because my Granddaughter needed to read it for school. It is well written. The book is about inner city kids that are asked by their teacher to start writing poems. These poems are written in conjunction with what is going on in their lives. I would recommend any teenager to read this book.
This is a book about the power of having a voice of your own and the importance of nurturing that voice in youth. It reminded me of the student I teach. There were some logistical questions I had about the students that were unanswered. The emotion and hopefulness of the book were superb. It helped me process the death of one of my students (car accident).
Only bought this book because it was on the teachers reading list. It is not a favorite for my daughter. Fact is it was required for her class, would not have had her read on my own. She was not a fan.
